2 Options If The Vote-Counting Machine Malfunctions

There are two options voters can take while waiting for the faulty Vote-Counting Machine Malfunctions to be fixed or the backup machine to arrive, as per Comelec Resolution No. 10759.

Voters can wait for the replacement VCM to arrive before they personally feed their ballots into the machine.

The second option is to hand over the ballot to the electoral board inside the polling center. They will feed the ballots by batch once the VCM is fixed, which will be closely monitored by poll watchers.

“You won’t be leaving your ballots unattended. You’ll be leaving it with the electoral board para sila ang magpasok sa makina kapag pwede na [So they can feed it once it’s fixed],” James Jimenez, head of Comelec’s education and information department, said on Monday.

Like in previous automated elections, those who will leave their ballots due to VCM problems need to sign a document to waive their right to receive a voter’s receipt, which is meant to countercheck if the candidates they voted for are correct.
