Tips and Requirements to Get Philippine Passport at DFA

I just renewed my passport and last March 11, 2016 I just get my passport. It is the exact date to release my new passport.

I received plenty of emails and comments on our site asking how to get the Philippines passport and what are the require documents needed. This post is for you guys who send us emails and leave comments on our site. Here are the tips on how to get Philippine Passport. You can read the comments about the requirements about Cagaayan de Oro DFA. Just remind you that Cagayan de Oro Department of Foreign Affairs was located at 3rd floor of Centrio Ayala Mall.

For new applicants here are the requirements for you to bring and don’t forget to photocopied it before going to DFA. No need to call DFA Cagayan de Oro for the appointment just go there and bring the required documents.

How to Apply:

Passport Requirements for New Applicants:

  • Personal appearance
  • Correctly accomplished application form. You can download here (or you can get this form at their office) .
  • Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar (LCR) and duly authenticated by PSA.
  • Valid picture IDs and supporting documents to prove identity (government ID, school ID any ID that can support your documents.).

As I remember 6 years ago I bring company ID and government ID to support my documents.

Passport Requirements for New Applicants for Married:

  • Aside on the requirements above include Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Passport Requirements for Renewal:

  • Personal appearance
  • Correctly accomplished application form. You can download here (or you can get this form at their office).
  • Bring your expired passport or the most recent expiring one.
  • Valid picture IDs and supporting documents to prove identity (government ID, school ID any ID that can support your documents.)

This time I bring my SSS ID and driver license as a support.

  • Photocopies your valid IDs and the First and Last pages of your expiring or expired passport. (There is a photocopier inside DFA and if it is not available there is a photocopier at the same floor of DFA near champs or in National bookstore at the ground floor of the mall .)

No Need to bring a passport-sized photo; bio metrics and photo will be taken at the DFA.

Tips:

  • If you have already all the requirements needed ask a priority number from the security personnel front door. They will give you and it will be attached to your application and then wait your number to be called in the processing area to check all your requirements.
  • After Processing area go to cashier and pay Php 950.00 for regular which takes 20 working days and Php 1,200 for express which take 10 working days. At the cashier you can see SIGN telling when you will receive your passport. You can also see it in your receipt.

In my case, I have to wait 10 working days to get my new Passport.

  • Wait your name to be called at the encoding area where they will get your biometrics and photo will be taken as well. You will be also asked to provide your E-signature (the personnel will guide you.)
  • You’re Done. You have to wait the date indicate on your receipt or ask them to deliver by courier. Inside DFA office they have LBC booth to provide the delivery. You just pay Php 120.00 and it will be deliver to you after 2 days after the date releasing.

Tips:

  • Wear collared shirt or blouse
  • Don’t wear contact lenses
  • Take off your earrings

Always remember weekend is for processing of passport only, no releasing of passports during weekend only weekdays.

For fast and no hassle I suggest processing your passport during weekend. It takes less than an hour to process and your done. That’s what I did… J
