Surprise Inspection From Regulatory and Complaint Board in CDO

A composite team led by the Regulatory and Complaint Board conducted an inspection and information drive at the city’s emerging night spot along Corrales Avenue in regard to existing ordinances pertaining to child welfare & protection, business permits and regulatory fees, health and sanitation, building safety and traffic obstruction.

While the city government welcomes urban development, it still intends to strike a balance between economic growth and ensuring the people’s welfare.

While the entertainment strip along Corrales Avenue has been becoming popular among the younger generation especially the yuppies and students, City Hall had also been receiving various complaints from parents, the academe, the neighboring residents in the area and passers-by.

The complaints vary which include traffic obstructions caused by the tables and chairs placed by these establishments along the sidewalks which they utilize as extentions of their spaces, the noise emanating from the live bands which had been disturbing the neighborhood and most especially the ill-effects and danger to minors who had been frequenting the place and getting drunk at night.

During the RCB inspection held last Friday, April 4, 2014, the team found out that many of these establishments operating along Corrales Avenue have been operating with expired business permits. The City Treasurers Office had advised them to comply immediately.
