Old Cemetery in Cagayan de Oro Accidentally Discovered

An old cemetery was discovered by the construction workers at Barangay Tagpangi at the vacant lot where Seventh Day Adventist church has been constructing. According to the expert that it is an old cemetery of the tribe Higaonon, which they discovered skeletons, old clothes and some antique jewellery accessories. They estimated that these antique jewellery was made during 18th century.

This new discovery was confirm by the Higaonon tribe that the place is where  their ancestors was buried during 1910. This Higaonon tribe is already part in our history. They found 13 skeletons which they believe the body was found are their ancestors and some Jewellery which they believe that it is part of their ritual during buried.

For awhile, because of this discovery the tribe will no longer want to resume the construction of the Seventh Day Adventist church but instead they want it to be fix and make it a sacred place as a grave of the Higaonon.

Rev. Lino Egay of Seventh Day Adventist explained that the 400 square meter lot was a donation of one of their members which they did know that it was an old Cemetery but he said that they will not opposed on what the Higaonon tribe wants but they are asking for help to look for a lot where they can construct their church.
