Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said yesterday the food packs are ready for transport to Iligan once there is clearance from the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ensure the safety of the people, who will bring the relief goods.

The relief goods, which include 500 sacks of rice, canned goods, and noodles, are ready to be delivered any time.

“We have prepared relief goods that we will send in Iligan, but we are still considering the safety of the people who will bring the food along the way,” the mayor said.

“We will discuss the matter with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, we don’t want to hassle them because we know that they are really busy right now. We have to sit down with them regarding this matter,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“All of us have the moral obligation to (help) the evacuees,” she said.

Meanwhile, the mayor said the city’s crime incident remained low since the declaration of martial law, based on the records of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

DCPO Director Sr. Supt Alexander Tagum said that the city remains generally peaceful, citing the full cooperation of the residents in the security measures enforced by the police.
