ASBC Asian Jrs Boxing Championships Advances to The Next Round
A young amateur boxer from Cagayan de Oro City got off to a rousing start in the on-going ASBC Asian Juniors Boxing Championships at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
John Vincent Pangga dominated Amirbek Ibodulloev from Uzbekistan as he pummeled the Uzbek boxer by impressively winning on points, 5-0, during their elimination bout in the 50 kilogram category.
Team CDO coach Elmer Pamisa said the city’s lone bet in the tournament will climb back atop the boxing ring today, August 4 against an opponent from United Arab Emirates, according to Pamisa.
A win by the 14-year old Pangga will ensure him a bronze medal and would plunge into action again in the semifinal round, Pamisa added.
Pangga, who is now a member of the RP junior boxing team. is one of the products of Mayor Oscar Moreno’s grassroots amateur boxing development program,
