Martial Law Extended in Mindanao Until December 31, 2018

The Philippine Senate and House of Representatives approved today, December 13, 2017 the request of President Rodrigo Duterte to extend martial law and the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus in Mindanao until December 31, 2018.

Voting 240-27 in a joint session, the country’s lawmakers acted in favor President Duterte’s request based on the recommendations of the police and military. Here’s how they voted.

14 of the Senators are voted Yes while 4 of the Senators are against the extension of Martial Law in Mindanao. In Congress 226 congressmen voted Yes and 23 voted no with no abstentions in both the House and the Senate.
