Spanish Kiln Discovered at Alubijid Misamis Oriental

Spanish Kiln Discovered, heritage CDO, National Historical Commission of the Philippines

Just last month, an old cemetery of the Higaonon tribe was accidentally discovered by the construction workers of the Seventh Day Adventist at the vacant lot at Barangay Tagpangi where they build their church.

Recently another heritage was discovered and this time at Alubijid Misamis Oriental. Archeologist was discovered this Spanish Kiln at Alubijid Misamis Oriental which they believe that this Spanish kiln is that one who formed the bricks of Baclayon Church of Bohol and other old churches in the province.

According to the research and archives, this kiln was built by a Jesuit brother name Juan Costa which a friend of our National Hero Jose Rizal who was responsible in training the brick makers in Northern Mindanao. There were plenty of Kiln was built in the town but only in the Alubijid right now remain stands, which the only surviving Spanish kiln. The group world like to register the newly discovered to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). Watch the video below.
