Top 5 Of Cagayan de Oro Alaxan FR Galing Mo Camp

Last year the PBA Legends (Philippine Basketball Association) Jojo Lastimosa, Johnny Abarrientos, Alvin Patrimonio, Benjie Paras, Jerry Codinera and Ronnie Magsanoc visited Cagayan de Oro for the opening of the “Court of Inspiration” which is located at Brgy. Puerto Cagayan de Oro. Through the help of the local volunteers of Brgy Puerto this court of inspiration was made in partnership with Alaxan FR ang Galing Mo.

Alaxan FR builds this Court of Inspiration around the Philippines from Visayas and Mindanao.  The Cities who was blessed by the court of inspiration through the help of Alaxan FR are Ilo-Ilo, Bacolod, Sarangani, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Tacloban, and Zamboanga.

CDO Encyclopedia was invited by Alaxan FR Galing Mo camp. Last March 15 and 16 the former superstar and PBA legends Jojo Lastimosa and Johnny Abarrientos have once again return to Brgy. Puerto and together with the other PBA legends, they have been going around country to conduct basketball training camps. The program is part of Alaxan FR’s nationwide advocacy to promote a culture of hard work and dedication, where pain is seen as a badge of honor.

Dubbed as the Galing Mo Camp—a training program that will reward not only those who work hard but also those who demonstrate the attitude of champions—the program had young, local basketball players demonstrating heart and skills for a chance to receive special training in Manila under the basketball legends, aside from winning cash grants for themselves and their communities.

The training camp was met with much enthusiasm, as aspiring locals aged 16-21 years old trooped to Puerto’s Court of Inspiration to undergo drills and receive assessment from the discerning basketball legends.

With this training camp at Brgy. Puerto, their are 80 plus inspiring athletes who try out and show their talents, skills in the court of inspiration and hoping that they will be choose by the legends. Out of these 80 plus it was cut off into 40 players then 20 players and they choose the top 14 players. This is best of the best players who try out and reach into the top 14, from these 14 players only 5 of them will be chosen and additional of 2 for the reserved players.

According to Jojo Lastimosa, the basketball camp aims to reward those who used the Courts of Inspiration to train hard and perfect their basketball skills. Five of the best local prospects that would be chosen will be sent to train in the program’s national leg, along with others from Iloilo, Bacolod, Butuan, Sarangani, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Tacloban and Zamboanga and the chance to be scouted in amateur and collegiate leagues.

The top 5 player in Cagayan de Oro that will be train in Manila are Rhodelle Nagac, Michael Kent Salado, Dan Audris Lagbas, Rhys Jefferson Flores, Red Louis Cachuela who was personally chosen by the PBA Legend Johnny Abarrientos. 4 of them are come from Xavier University collage and only Michael Kent Salado is came from STI College.

From top 14 he chooses, he can choose top 12 but according to their rules only 5 will be chosen. Only in Cagayan de Oro I saw lots of potential players in spite that the court is small. No doubt if someday one of the PBA superstars will come from Cagayan de Oro, he added.

The top 5 who was chosen will compete to Manila and from there they will have chance to play some of the PBA legends and PBA teams which handled by the former PBA superstars.

On April 16 all players will fly to Manila for the training camp of the Alaxan Galing Mo. There are 50 players competing in Manila for this Galing Mo camp and from these 50 players they will be screen by the PBA coaches and PBA legends. The top 10 that will be chosen will receive 20 thousand pesos each plus 100 thousand pesos worth for their community project.

Through the advocacy, Alaxan FR and the basketball legends aim to “inspire greatness through sheer diligence.” Through both advice and direct experience, they constantly remind the new generation of basketball players about the value of hard work in achieving dreams.
